On 1 December, the European Digital Finance Association hosted its monthly Fintech Café, a space designed to foster dialogue and share updates on the evolving European fintech landscape.

Insights from Brussels: Regulation and Innovation in Focus

Following Don Ginsel’s introduction, Karsten Wenzlaff delivered the Report from Brussels, highlighting several key developments shaping the European agenda:

• The implementation of MiCA and ongoing projects on tokenization.
• The technical dialogue surrounding the digital euro and its emerging framework.
• Updates on the PSD framework, with a focus on user risks and regulatory implications.

These discussions underscored the importance of aligning innovation with regulatory clarity, ensuring that fintechs can thrive while safeguarding consumer trust.

Bridging Borders: Paris Highlights

Florence de Maupeou provided an overview of the inaugural Bridging Borders event, co-organized by EDFA and France FinTech in Paris on 19 November. The initiative marked a significant step in connecting fintech ecosystems across Europe, fostering collaboration between national associations and industry leaders.

Looking Ahead: Frankfurt Digital Conference

We were delighted to hear from Corinna Egerer and Florian Brodersen, who presented the upcoming Frankfurt Digital Conference. This event will bring together banks, fintechs, and policymakers, reinforcing Frankfurt’s role as a hub for European digital finance dialogue.

Innovation Spotlight: FinMonda

A special thanks goes to Matthias Kröner of the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) for introducing FinMonda, a platform designed to help financial institutions, fintechs, tech providers, and regulators stay ahead of innovation trends and product developments.
