The European Digital Finance Association (EDFA) invites you to a high-level policy roundtable on building a true Single Market for digital finance and fintech. It will be hosted at the European Parliament under the auspices of MEP Ondrej Krutilek (ECR).

Europe’s ambition is a Single Market where innovative companies can incorporate, scale and serve customers seamlessly across borders. That ambition has turned into an active legislative agenda. The Savings and Investments Union Strategy has been followed by concrete proposals, including a new EU-wide corporate legal form for startups and scaleups and an EU Financial Literacy Strategy. Yet the gap with global competitors remains large, and much depends on how these initiatives are designed and implemented.

The roundtable will bring together policymakers from the European Parliament and the European Commission with industry representatives and other stakeholders to discuss two topics:

EU Inc. and the 28th Regime
Can a new European corporate framework make Europe a competitive home for fintech startups and help close the scale-up gap? Or does it risk adding another layer of complexity?

Financial Literacy
Only 18% of EU citizens show a high level of financial literacy. How can policymakers, educators and the industry help consumers make informed financial decisions, protect themselves from fraud and save and invest with confidence?

The panel discussion will be followed by an open Q&A with the audience and EDFA members, and an informal networking cocktail at the European Parliament.
