The Fintech Café opened its new season on 2 September with an online session on the digital euro. The Café is EDFA’s monthly gathering for fintech associations and the people working around them, from across Europe and beyond, and the timing was right: since July, the final text has been in negotiation between Parliament and Council.
Jiri Hauptmann opened with the regular EDFA regulatory update, setting out where the main digital finance files stand this autumn, and the session looked at how a public digital euro would sit alongside private euro stablecoins. Özgür Kesim (Code Blau and FU Berlin) then gave a guest presentation on the design questions still open while the co-legislators negotiate.
The rest of the session went to the room, with attendees presenting updates from their own ecosystems and the initiatives taking shape in their markets. Thank you to everyone who joined and shared.
See you in the next café!
