The Digital Finance Agenda: Challenges and Priorities of the EU Institutions for 2024-2029

December 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Under the auspices of MEP Zdechovský (EPP, Czechia), the discussion will focus on how European competitiveness, now a key overarching priority of the new European Commission, can be strengthened while ensuring strong consumer protection. This is especially important given the regulatory shift from open banking to open finance, as introduced by the EC’s Payment Services Package (PSD, PSR) and the Financial Data Access Framework (FIDA).

Key topics to be discussed include shaping consumer protection in a more competitive global environment, addressing concerns about overregulation from past legislatures, pragmatic redefinition of non-functional measures, and exploring how the digitalisation of finance can improve essential services, such as creditworthiness assessments, for the benefit of consumers.

Speakers will include Member of European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský (EPP, Czechia), Gundars Ostrovskis from the Digital Finance Unit at the Commission’s DG FISMA, Fredrik Andersson from the Center of European Policy Studies (CEPS), Aleš Rod from the European Economic Competitiveness Institute (EECI), and Gergely Mikola from International Personal Finance (IPF).

The debate will be moderated by Mr. Jiří Hauptmann, EDFA.

Register here until 29 November.

Please note that the capacity of the venue is limited, and your participation will be valid only upon confirmation.
